Remote sensing provides powerful observations at different spatial, temporal and spectral scales. Active-fire detections identify thermal anomalies, not final perimeters. Fire Radiative Power estimates emitted energy at observation time, not total incident energy. Burned-area and severity products are post-event interpretations generated from different sensors and methods. A mapped perimeter can come from aircraft, field mapping, incident GIS or remote sensing and should always retain its timestamp and source. The same map symbol can therefore represent very different evidence objects.
