What an N95 can—and cannot—do during wildfire smoke
An approved N95 is designed to filter airborne particles when worn correctly. It can reduce exposure to fine smoke particles, including part of the PM2.5 fraction, but it does not make polluted air safe. Leakage around the face can dominate real performance.
