Gann Fire (2026): what the Gann Fire left behind on Hogan Dam Road

Calaveras · Incident start: August 3, 2026

Near Valley Springs, the incident team documented the afterlife of a bulldozer line. A ridge of soil pushed up during suppression was later smoothed back toward the original ground contour.

What the incident record shows

The before-and-after photographs describe a specific repair on Hogan Dam Road. Roadside cleanup and repair continued as management passed from the incident team to the local unit. For this fire, the 100% containment announcement is a useful milestone for the perimeter, but a poor endpoint for the work on the ground.

Reading the figures

The CAL FIRE incident summary updated August 13, 2026 lists 10,339 acres and 100% containment. These are historical reporting figures.

A photographed repair is evidence for that location. It cannot by itself demonstrate that all disturbed slopes were restored or that erosion was prevented during subsequent storms.
