USGS Postfire Debris-flow Hazards

U.S. Geological Survey Landslide Hazards Program
Scope

Postfire debris-flow hazard assessments and mapping for recently burned terrain under specified rainfall scenarios.

Strong use

Understanding how wildfire can alter runoff response and create debris-flow hazards during later rainfall.

Evidence limits

Assessments are scenario-based, are not created for every fire and do not replace local warnings for flash floods or debris flows.
