Lassen, Sierra · Incident start: August 8, 2026
A reader filtering the California archive by county will find Lassen and Sierra. But adding the full incident acreage to a California total would put most of the fire on the wrong side of the state line.
What the incident record shows
The incident team assigned 12,817 acres to California and 80,916 to Nevada. The two numbers sum to 93,733; Nevada accounts for roughly 86% of the mapped area. This is one cross-border incident with two geographic subtotals. A national inventory should count the incident once; a state comparison should allocate its acreage twice, in the correct proportions.
